Building you first website can be a daunting task. There are many things to learn and more often than not you won’t have anyone to ask. It would be good to have a group of people that you can consult from time to time to help resolve your doubts or problems. A very good place to do this is to join forums or groups.
There are many forums and groups dedicated to webmasters. Join one or two of them and get to know the members. Visit the forum or group at least twice a week and start posting your questions or doubts. There will be many members willing to help. In return for their help I suggest you visit their website (found in their signature box) and leave a comment. This will help in their websites’ search engine ranking. This way you are encouraging and motivating members of the group or forum to continue to render their help to new webmasters for free.
Another reason for visiting forums and groups is that it will help you to generate new ideas for your website. You pick up all kinds of great ideas that you can implement on your website and make it better. I have learnt a lot about promoting my website, improving my web design and even making money from my involvement in such forums and groups.
