When I first started building my own website, one of the first strategies that I used was to learn from other websites. I will look at the layout, the positioning of features, the font size, background colour and so on. I will then try to see if these featuers were suitable for my website.
I will also view the html source code for the website to see how things are coded. I didn’t understand anything in the beginning but through constant research, comparing and testing I slowly learnt to understand the coding behind some of the features that appear on websites. I am still far from understanding html, but at least I can make some simple coding like linking, listing, paragraphing or setting headlines.
Modeling is a great way to learn to build your website. You save a lot of time and it also gives you an opportunity to learn how things are done -improving your confidence in building a website. I would highly encourage anyone starting to build a website, to take time to study some of the more successful websites and see how things are done.
Modeling is like a guide, you study how others do things and then you try it on your website. If it works you adopt it and if it dosen’t you discard it. Gradually, you will develop your own style and strategies.
I hope your website is coming fine. Do contact me if you need to discuss any aspects of building your website or if you are planning to start a website.
